School's out for the Summer in NZ! - Have a great holiday

Time to catch up on holiday reading, sleep in, last minute Xmas shopping,
watch that boxed set of the TVseries you missed last year, get ready to catch up with the                        "Rellies" and  forget about school for a few weeks.

                                                                  Happy Holidays everyone!

Summer Reading Recommendations

We are smack in the middle of an amazing kiwi summer and that means lots of time to read, read, READ!

Which books have you loved? Share your favourites here on these padlets. The first is for fiction; everything from amazing picture books to those Man Booker prize winners you've been meaning to catch up on.

The second padlet is for professional reads. What inspiring professional reading have you done these holidays? Perhaps you could briefly share one or two of the ideas that challenged or encouraged you? If you've discovered an inspiring educator blog that you're feeling challenged by, this would be a great place to share that too.

Like anything that is crowdsourced, this relies on your participation so jump right on in.....we'd love to hear from educators outside Canterbury too.

Are we there yet? Can I start reading now?

I am on holiday, well almost! Just those few last bits and pieces to tidy up and put away. Most Secondary schools are finishing this week, with Primary schools next week. In the midst of tabloid sports, report checking, textbook return, prize givings, the Year 8 farewells... some of us have may even be thinking of beaches, picnics, holidays and even some holiday reading. (No, I have not forgotten that Christmas is also in there!)

However, I have also been thinking about my holiday reading both digital and analogue! Obviously, there will be new recipe books (Xmas pressie hint!) Chick Lit, Murder Mystery, next year's Year 12 novel and the third Hunger Games book I need to read before I see the movie!

However, there are also lots of books recommended by a wide variety of people, that I also need to
get onto my reading list. Some of these have been mentioned on this blog, so I thought a crowdsourced holiday reading list would be useful. Feel free to add your suggestion.
